4/1/2023 0 Comments I hate myself for loving you![]() It's like I just had to get this story out and so I was waking up at 4:30 or 5:00 in the morning and I would write and my kids would wake up and they be like, mom, we're hungry, and I'd be like, grab a granola bar, watch some TV. I knew I had this book and the only way I can explain it is that, I had a glass of water and it was filled to the brim and I had to make it to the other side of the room before I spilled it. > I will say I wrote it in four months and spent a year making it good but those four months, I felt like I had something. But you said it's like you were almost possessed thinking about it all the time. > Jenny, it's incredible because you said you wrote this book in four months and having two young kids, that is just unfathomable. > Now you know if you live in that house, this book is for you. ![]() I was like, who lives there? I don't know the people but I wrote a story. Things were inching towards normal but we were all still working from home and we weren't taking the subway anywhere and so my neighborhood just became my whole world and I would go for these walks and, you know, it's such a New York thing, you sort of look at people's windows and there was this big, beautiful building at the end of my block with these huge windows and a chandelier and piano and I sort of became obsessed. Why did you choose to set this in your own neighborhood? > So, I started writing it in the back half of 2020. Which takes place in your actual neighborhood in Brooklyn, Brooklyn heights, on pineapple street.
